Dr Jennifer Malamas

Midlife is not a breakdown.

It is a turning point.

Your body is changing.

And so are you.

“Midlife asks us to pay attention to our bodies, our energy, and the lives we are living.”

This season of life is both biological and deeply personal. The physical shifts are real and so are the questions that often appear alongside them.

Over time, my work has evolved to support both.

I spent almost two decades practicing emergency medicine in New York City.

It was meaningful, challenging, and deeply formative. I loved the intensity. I loved the teamwork. I loved showing up for people during some of the most vulnerable moments of their lives. I was good at what I did. I felt purposeful. That chapter of my life was rich and full.

And over time, I began to feel complete there. Not burned out. Not disillusioned.

Simply aware that I was growing in a new direction.

“Growth does not always come from discomfort or dissatisfaction. Sometimes it comes from completion.”

As my own personal development deepened through mindfulness, meditation, and self-inquiry, my understanding of health began to expand. I became more interested in root causes, stress management, long-term wellbeing, and the inner lives of the women I was caring for.

I wanted more space. More depth. More continuity. So I began to shift…

I trained as a professional coach.
I deepened my meditation practice and completed formal teacher training.
I transitioned from emergency medicine into urgent care, creating room for this next chapter.

And, as I entered perimenopause myself and began experiencing the confusion, lack of clarity, and lack of support many women have experienced, I pursued advanced training in menopause medicine.

What became clear to me is this:

Midlife is not just about hormones.
It is about capacity.
Energy.
Identity.
Boundaries.
Purpose.

And most women are navigating it without adequate support.

“Our bodies and our internal lives are not in separate conversations.”

What I do now

Today, I practice medicine differently than I did in the ER. I practice more spaciously, more reflectively, and with greater attention to the whole person.

I am a board-certified physician and certified menopause practitioner providing personalized telemedicine care for women in perimenopause and menopause.

I am also a certified coach and meditation teacher supporting women as they navigate leadership growth, evolving relationships, shifting priorities, and deeper questions about how they want to live this next chapter of their lives.

I do not separate the physical from the personal.

Hormones influence mood and cognition.
Stress impacts physiology.
Life transitions shape symptoms.

Everything is connected.

“All change starts from within.”

How I work

My work is grounded, thoughtful, and practical.

We review labs, symptoms, sleep, and evidence-based treatment options.
We also explore patterns, values, nervous system regulation, and personal growth.

I help women:

  • Understand what is happening hormonally

  • Make informed, confident treatment decisions

  • Restore energy and mental clarity

  • Strengthen boundaries

  • Reconnect with their internal steadiness

  • Move through this phase of life with intention rather than reaction

This is not rushed care.
And it is not abstract coaching.

It is a steady informed partnership during a powerful life transition.

Ways to work with me

I currently offer:

  • Menopause-focused telemedicine care

  • One-on-one coaching for midlife women

  • Group programs and women’s circles

  • Educational workshops and retreats

Some women begin with medical care.
Some begin with coaching.
Many find that they need both.

You do not have to navigate this transition alone.

If you are ready to explore what support may look like, I invite you to connect.
